, Welcome to Harrington Group’s Newest Fire Protection Engineer – Jeff McKendree, Harrington Group Inc
HGI’s newest Fire Protection Engineer, Jeff McKendree with his wife, Sarah, and daughter, Eryn.

Harrington Group is excited to announce that Jeff McKendree has joined the team as a Senior Fire Protection Engineer. Jeff grew up in the small steel town of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, where he currently lives with his family, and he will work remotely from his hometown.

Interested in fire protection from a young age, Jeff became a junior firefighter at the local fire department when he was 16. After high school he studied Fire Science Technology at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, while volunteering as a live-in firefighter in suburban Harrisburg. He transferred to Eastern Kentucky University after his sophomore year, and in 1999 he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering. He’s been in the industry ever since. His area of expertise is fire suppression design, and has devoted most of his career to that particular realm.

“I find the most challenging and rewarding part of fire protection engineering is the coordination of the appropriate and code compliant building and site fire safety features with local authorities and installing contractors,” Jeff says. “The challenge is often educating the involved parties in how these features provide fire safety and the reward is a building or site that is fire safe to the users or occupants.”

Even from afar, Jeff says he’s received a warm welcome from his new coworkers at Harrington Group and he already feels like he’s truly part of the team.

“I am most excited for the opportunity to work with like-minded fire protection professionals,” Jeff says. “This has not always been the case throughout my career and working with the professionals at HGI will provide me an opportunity for growth as a fire protection engineer that I have never been afforded.”

Jeff and his lovely wife Sarah have been married for 17 years, and he’s the proud father of a 13-year-old named Eryn. When he’s not working, the self-proclaimed “total bookworm” loves to read, and other interests include the outdoors and U.S. history. He and his family love to vacation at the beach and visit historical sites.
