, Jeff Harrington Speaks at Fire Suppression Systems Association Annual Meeting, Harrington Group IncDULUTH, GA — FEBRUARY 21, 2007 — Fire protection engineer, Jeff Harrington, was a featured speaker at the February 12, 2007 annual meeting of the Fire Suppression Systems Association at the Don Cesar Resort in St. Pete’s Beach, Florida.

Mr. Harrington is the Chairman of the National Fire Protection Association’s Technical Committee on Gaseous Fire Extinguishing Systems (GFE-AAA) which is responsible for three NFPA standards: NFPA 2001, Standard on Clean Agent Fire Extinguishing Systems; NFPA 12, Standard on Carbon Dioxide Extinguishing Systems; and NFPA 12A, Standard on Halon 1301 Fire Extinguishing Systems.

Mr. Harrington’s presentation was titled, Room Pressurization and Venting During Clean Agent Discharges. The presentation described details of a halocarbon clean agent discharge event that resulted in the collapse of a 32 foot high concrete block wall. Mr. Harrington also presented proposed changes to NFPA 2001 that will assist users of the standard in evaluating the strength of a protected enclosure, the peak negative or positive pressures developed during agent discharge, and methods to help ensure enclosure integrity during and after agent discharge.
